Drop-In Resource Coordinator Full Time

The Drop-In Resource Coordinator position is located in Burlington and reports to the Basic Needs Program Manager. They will provide support and guidance to Drop-In Youth Coaches, Drop-In staff/interns/AmeriCorps members. The Resource Coordinator provides case management and support to youth through assessments and case planning, case management, family preservation services, and access to housing, healthcare and other benefits for youth experiencing homelessness or housing instability ages 14-24.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide information and support to other program staff, serving as the lead responsible staff on the floor of the Drop-In space
• Maintaining a caseload, providing direct services and service coordination to at least 12-20 youth meeting at a minimum of once monthly
• Maintaining appropriate information and documentation in client files
• Outreach to local community resources and referral sources to coordinate services
• Assisting clients in developing individualized comprehensive plans of care
• To provide case management including efforts to:
  • Assist youth in identifying their goals
  • Conduct formal assessment of the youth’s vulnerability
  • Assist youth in developing a plan that uses their strengths to help them meet their goals
  • Assist youth in attaining sustainable employment/income
  • Assist youth in obtaining necessary documentation
  • Assist youth in accessing and maintaining affordable housing including submitting all necessary applications and working with community partners
  • Assist youth in accessing health care and other benefits
  • Assist youth in identifying and developing lifelong connections and support from caring adults.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required

• Bachelor’s degree in social work or related field or equivalent relevant experience working with adolescent and young adults, especially in providing case management services.
• Commitment to the value of diversity with respect to gender, race, age, socio-economic level, sexual orientation, and religion.
• Knowledge of adolescent and young adult development and experience working with youth in crisis.
• Demonstrated ability in navigating housing benefits and other related systems.
• The ability to build trust and rapport with adolescents.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
• Skill in coordinating services with other agencies and professionals.
• Valid driver’s license required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

• The above duties will be carried out in a variety of settings including on-site, various community meeting settings and public gatherings. Frequent travel is required, including client transportation. Reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, and comprehensive insurance is required.
