Seeking experienced carpenter with backcountry experience to lead projects such as construction, restoration, and/or repair of historic shelters, cabins, bridges, outhouses, and kiosks. Shelter repairs may include replacing/repairing roofs, replacing footings or joists, and more.
Lead crew of two or three. Work is Mon-Fri in the field. For backcountry projects, crews camp near work sites Mon-Thurs nights.
Construction Crew Leader Responsibilities Include:
Scout and plan work projects.
Set weekly work schedules.
Foster healthy working relationships with crew.
Oversee transport of building materials to and from remote work sites.
Purchase building materials and supplies as needed.
Construction Crew Leader Qualifications Include:
Valid Driver’s License
Minimum qualifications including interpreting blueprints, roofing, and installing decking.
Extensive experience with carpentry tools and power tools
Carpentry experience: stick built, timber frame, and log building experience desired.
Experience ordering and/or purchasing building materials
Experience in leadership positions, preferably in trail work or construction
Strong backcountry living skills
