Ohavi Zedek Synagogue’s Shalom Shuk thrift store provides gently used clothes and household wares to new immigrants and those in need. The mission of the Shalom Shuk, Marketplace of Peace, is to build bridges between peoples of all religious, social and economic backgrounds, through exchanges that foster dignity and respect and offer equal access for all to high-quality used clothing and household goods, while promoting self-respect and self-sufficiency. In pursuit of Shalom Shuk’s primary mission, we provide basic household goods and clothing to recently arrived immigrants and people in need.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
We are looking for a kind and friendly retail professional who can be a team player and align with our mission to foster dignity and respect in our community. We offer you a fun and respectful work environment. We are never open on Saturdays.
Responsibilities include:
Accept donations graciously from donors
Process donations; price, hang, and place on sales floor according to set protocol
Assist customers with their purchases & cash them out at the register
Keep store clean and free of clutter
Open and close cash register, run reports, and set up bank deposits
Open and close store; turn off and set alarm daily
Work collaboratively with co-workers and volunteers
QUALIFICATIONS
Able to work in fast paced environment
Willingness and capacity to work as an effective team member
Able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand on your feet for up to 6 hour
Able to bend, stretch, lift, and squat throughout shift
Able to handle money and run cash register
Interest in helping the local community
Retail, merchandising experience a plus

The work location is primarily in OZ’s Shalom Shuk thrift store
This part time, hourly position is anticipated to be 6 to 18 hours per week
The pay rate is $16.22 per hour
