Seeking a part-time Managing Director to develop RecycleBalls as a sustainable nonprofit enterprise, its core technologies, fundraising, and industry partnerships to further our mission to recycle all tennis balls in the United States.
RecycleBalls http://recycleballs.org/ was founded as a innovative, youth-driven 501(c)3 nonprofit headquartered in Burlington, VT. Wilson, the leading tennis equipment manufacturer in the world, is our key sponsor.
Nationwide, 125 million used tennis balls wind up in America’s landfills. That is 20,000 metric tons of methane-producing, non-decomposable rubber waste. In 2017, U.S. tennis players recognized this as a significant environmental problem. RecycleBalls has a proven, scalable solution that is being quickly adopted nationally.
Recycleballs is the first organization in U.S. tennis history with a large-scale scalable collection solution for all played tennis balls in the United States. Our patented, no-cost QuickShip program allows facilities nationwide to recycle tennis balls. The program provides pre-paid shipping and a tax donation for every ball donated.
In 2017, we developed RecycleBalls Green Gold – a unique crumb rubber product made from tennis balls. This product is the result of removing 99% of the felt from tennis balls in a cost-effective manner. Partners have created products incorporating Green Gold material.
The founders have brought RecycleBalls through the startup phase and secured a major corporate sponsor. They desire to transition the vision and leadership responsibilities to an Executive Director who will guide RecycleBalls through the growth phase. The Executive Director will work on-site in South Burlington, Vermont.
The Executive Director will work in close partnership with our staff, partners, and peer organizations to offer support, guidance, inspiration, accountability, and creativity.
Supervision: Initially, by Founder. After Board forms, by Chair of Board of Directors.
Travel: Some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected.
Interested candidates should submit an updated resume, cover letter, salary requirement, and three professional references. The cover letter should address four major areas including: comparable work experience and past successes, leadership experience and qualifications, fundraising capacity, and a statement to convey an understanding of the RecycleBalls mission.
