UVM seeks a Network Engineer to join our Network Services team, which manages network, Internet, and phone services in 293 buildings on campus and 19 offsite facilities, and is focused on three major components: security, connectivity, and performance. The Network Engineer will play a critical role in designing and managing the university’s applications and networks, providing innovative technology solutions that impact and transform all areas of UVM.
Responsibilities include high-level design (IPv4 and IPv6), troubleshooting and management functions for the University Network; problem resolution for applications which run over the local University network and Internet; Configure, troubleshoot and maintain the Voice over IP infrastructure, E-911, wireless, firewalls, VPNs, routers, switches, DWDM and Ethernet technologies. Ideal candidates will have a bachelor’s degree in a related discipline and four years’ experience in design, troubleshooting, and management of medium- or large-sized enterprise TCP/IP networks. Experience with network performance monitoring, and debugging tools, 802.1x, Radius and/or AML/SSO authentication, wireless, network intrusion detection, IPv6, IP video, VoIP, EIGRP, BGP and network and server virtualization are highly desirable.
