Clinician and Integrated Care Provider Full Time

The Clinician and Integrated Care Provider offers counseling, crisis intervention, consultation and mental health outreach services to enhance Champlain College students’ psychological and emotional welfare. This position is also responsible for managing the Counseling Center waitlist by offering students brief individual and/or group interventions. Responsible for supporting the mission and philosophy of the Student Health and Wellness Center, the Division of Student Affairs and Champlain College. Provides respectful and confidential services for all students, valuing differences in race, ethnicity, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender, national origin, ability, veteran status, socioeconomic status, and age. This is a 10 month position.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide cross-cultural and multicultural individual therapy to students to address various mental health and wellness-related issues.
• Participate in triage rotation to assess individuals with acute/severe problems related to substance abuse, mental or emotional crises; for clients who may be suicidal, depressed, psychotic and/or potentially violent; and develop specialized individual plans for clients to identify, resolve problems, and ensure safety.
• Serve in counselor “on-call” rotations (two-week long shifts – approximately 4 times per academic year) to consult and provide clinical support to administrators/residential life for after-hour emergencies.
• Provide clinical case management, which may include transfer of care, community referrals, and medical withdrawal support. Assist students in navigating community and campus systems, including connecting them with services and providing information and resources. Empower and educate students in obtaining skills related to self-advocacy.
• Promote health & wellness initiatives through participation in the cross-collaborative wellbeing team.
• Develop and facilitate psychoeducational opportunities across campus.
• Provide clinical and administrative support to graduate internship program.
• Work collaboratively with the Student Health & Wellness team, including nurse practitioners, psychiatric nurse practitioners, case managers, etc. to develop and implement a holistic treatment plan.
• Maintain encounter notes and other documentation according to best practices and policies.
• Maintain highest ethical standards according to Vermont statutes & standards in the mental health professions.
• Represent the Counseling Center at campus-wide events (Orientation, Admitted Students Day, Open House, Commencement).
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• Education: Master’s Degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology or related discipline
• Experience: Experience in a college counseling setting preferred
• Certification/Licenses/or Rostered: Maintain appropriate state licensing, continuing education requirements and/or certifications to practice in Vermont, including participating in professional development opportunities
• Skills: Risk assessment; diagnosis; culturally-responsive counseling; short-term counseling modalities; trauma-informed counseling approach; awareness; abidance of HIPPA and confidentiality laws; ability to navigate electronic health record software, Microsoft Office and Zoom experience (for presentations, meetings).
