Expected to begin Fall 2025, this tenure-track position will be responsible for teaching undergraduate courses such as Quantitative Reasoning, Intro to Statistics, Precalculus or Calculus for non-math majors, and upper-division elective courses in their area of expertise. The successful candidate may be asked to teach courses in a distance learning format. The successful applicant will join a department of colleagues that are passionate about undergraduate teaching and research, and will be required to be an effective educator, develop a research program leading to undergraduate presentations and publications, participate in university service, and contribute to undergraduate advising of a diverse student body. The Mathematics Department offers both B.A. and B.S. degrees in mathematics. We provide a solid foundation in the theory and practice of calculus, linear algebra, and abstract algebra with our upper-division elective courses covering financial mathematics, probability and statistics, differential equations, and more. We are part of the School of Arts & Sciences which provides excellence in learning opportunities for all students at SUNY Plattsburgh through a core liberal arts education. Required Qualifications:
A Ph.D. in mathematics or related field is required for appointment as Assistant Professor. ABDs will be considered for appointment at a lesser (qualified) rank and salary, upon proof that the applicant’s defense of their dissertation will be scheduled within the first year of the appointment. A successful ABD applicant will receive promotion to the rank of Assistant Professor and a salary increment at the start of the semester following verification of the terminal degree completion. An ABD hire will be limited to a one-year appointment, subject to renewal for one year only (2 years maximum).
