Reports to: Foreman
Pay Range: $18-$22/hour
Days and Hours: Monday – Friday; 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.; occasional overtime; March-November
Based out of Horsford Gardens & Nursery at 2111 Greenbush Road in Charlotte, Vermont.
Work with your foreman to understand the decision making and planning that goes into landscaping projects. Learn how to properly execute small and large scale landscaping projects, both residential and commercial.
LEARN:
Plant Installations – Trees of all sizes, shrubs, perennial gardens, ground covers
Site Work – Demolition of existing landscapes, preparing and grading job sites, driveway installations
Landscape Masonry – Dry-laid retaining and freestanding stone walls, stone patios, steps, and walkways
Carpentry – Wooden decks, fences, pergolas, gazebos, pool and tool sheds
Recreational installations – swimming pools, pickle-ball courts
Lawn installation – seeding, sodding, wildflowers
Maintenance – our company does a small amount of contracted spring and fall maintenance for select clients each year
Operate a number of basic and high-end equipment and machinery, such as skid steers, excavators, dump trucks, carpentry tools, laser transits, shovels, wheelbarrows
Prepare job sites – grading, excavating, and organizing job sites
Requirements:
Ability to work hard with a team and independently, always in a safe and respectful manner
Willingness to take instructions and eagerness to learn new skills
Capable of physically demanding outdoor work – staying on your feet, moving, or kneeling for extended periods of time
Ability to lift at least 50 lbs repeatedly throughout a workday
Willingness to work outside in the elements of a Vermont spring, summer, and fall
Maintain a safe, organized, clean, and respectful work environment
Arrive to work promptly in the morning
Stay focused and on task while working independently
