Chief Wastewater Operator Full Time

The Village of Bellows Falls is seeking an experienced and dedicated professional to serve as Chief Wastewater Operator for our Class IV Wastewater Treatment Facility. This leadership role is responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of the Town’s wastewater treatment operations while protecting public health and the Connecticut River watershed. Rockingham’s Wastewater Department is actively strengthening its operations and investing in improved systems, communication, and long-term stability. Position Responsibilities

• Serve as the Vermont DEC-designated Operator of Record for a Class IV facility
• Direct daily operations and process control of the wastewater treatment plant
• Ensure compliance with NPDES permit requirements and all state and federal regulations
• Supervise and mentor wastewater staff
• Oversee laboratory testing, reporting, and regulatory submissions
• Manage preventative maintenance and capital improvement planning
• Assist with wastewater budgeting and long-term infrastructure planning
• Participate in emergency response and on-call coverage 

Qualifications

Required

• Active Vermont Class IV Wastewater Treatment Facility Operator Certification
• 5+ years of progressively responsible wastewater operations experience
• Supervisory experience
• Valid Vermont Driver’s License

Preferred:

• Degree in environmental science, engineering, or related field
• Experience with SCADA systems and municipal budgeting

Compensation and Benefits

Hourly Range: $35.00 – $45.00, depending on qualifications and experience.
