Join our Basic Needs Program as the Youth Shelter Coordinator. In this role, you’ll provide direct supervision to the program Youth Coaches and collaborate with the Program Director to organize and coordinate overall programmatic activities in the St Albans Shelter. This position works in coordination with the Chief Operations Officer, The Chief Clinical Officer, other agency directors, and appropriate staff. This is a full-time nonexempt position located in St Albans, VT.
This position will coordinate day-to-day operations of the Nightly Shelter. The program provides basic mental health and substance abuse screening, self-sufficiency screening, life skills training and support, access to healthy activities, and referral to other services. The Coordinator will provide direct supervision to program Youth Coaches and any volunteers, AmeriCorps members, or interns of Supported Housing
The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to valuing diversity, encompassing gender, race, age, socio-economic level, sexual orientation, and religion. A bachelor’s degree and relevant experience are required, with a master’s degree in social work or a related human services field preferred. The candidate should have at least three years of experience in a relevant social service role, ideally with supervisory responsibilities. Prior experience providing client-centered, developmentally appropriate services to adolescents, young adults, and their families dealing with complex mental health and substance use challenges is essential. Additionally, the candidate should have a thorough understanding of the multifaceted impact of trauma and experience in delivering trauma-informed care.
