Finance Administrator Part Time

The Vermont Arts Council is hiring a part-time Finance Administrator to provide operational day-to-day support for the Council’s finance functions, ensuring timely accounts payable, payroll and other finance and human resource related activities are accomplished with great attention to detail and promptness. About the Position

The Finance Administrator is a key position in the finance operation of the council. The position will work closely with the Finance Director on the day-to-day financial operations including processing payments and payroll, credit card processing, and other finance-related transactions.  The Finance Administrator will become a financial and human resource process and procedure expert and serve as a resource for Council staff.

Position Responsibilities

• Process payments for accounts and grants payable; keep records of process and approvals
• Enter new vendors in accounting system; ensure complete and accurate information is stored in financial accounting system
• Process bi-weekly payroll, track benefits, ensure accurate adjustments as needed, and process year end documents (1099 & W-2s)
• Enter general ledger transactions for deposits, accounts payable and payroll
• Assist with annual year end audit material preparation
• Maintain personnel files and keep employee leave records up to date, assuring compliance with current policy and helping staff understand the policies
• Prepare employee orientation packets, assisting with orientation and training as appropriate. Maintain and ensure compliance with new and departing employee procedures. Submit employee insurance forms and changes to insurance providers.
• Keep up to date with changes in Council human resource policies and procedures and employee benefits.
  Participate in Council events and meetings, and complete or participate in other projects as assigned.

Requirements:

• Experience in accounting
• Familiarity and proficiency in general ledger accounting software (Financial Edge or similar platform), payroll processing systems (Asure or similar platform) and Microsoft office suite products
• Good communication skills and exercise good judgment
• Ability to work independently and cooperatively with a team of peers
• Good organizational skills, ability to work under pressure, and manage priorities
• Curiosity, enthusiasm, and a willingness to learn and grow
• Commitment to the Council’s Values, as outlined in the Strategic Plan

Structure:

• Part-Time
• 20-25hrs/wk
• Salary and Benefits: The Vermont Arts Council provides a competitive compensation package with an hourly rate between $25-$30/hr, and benefits that includes vacation, holiday, and sick pay; an employee retirement plan (with a 5.5% VAC contribution), and flexible work arrangements (including the option for hybrid work).

Work Conditions and Physical Requirements:

• Work Setting: This position mostly requires indoor work
• Body Positioning: Spend time sitting and standing, making repetitive motions, and/or keyboarding. Spend time using hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls. Frequently lift or move up to 10 lbs.
• Communication: Contact with others, electronic mail, in-person discussions,  telephone, and video.
