NOFA-VT was founded in 1971, and works to support organic farms, healthy food and strong communities. VOF, an LLC owned by NOFA-VT, is a USDA accredited organic certifier and provides Vermont producers with a credible verification program for their organic production practices. Our offices are located in Richmond, Vermont.
VOF is looking to hire a Materials Specialist/Staff Inspector to join our certification team.
The Materials Specialist/Staff Inspector will coordinate the materials review program, conduct inspections on organic farms and facilities, and verify the organic production practices of organic and grassfed livestock producers. Major duties include developing and coordinating the materials review program, reviewing materials for compliance with the organic regulations and conducting on-site inspections of operations for compliance to the organic regulations. Minor duties include reviewing organic system plans and inspection reports, writing compliance letters and assisting farmers with the certification process.
This is a fun, fast-paced office and we have with high expectations of our staff. Applicants should have a sense of humor, ability to multitask and be willing to work independently and as a team. Applicants should have good time-management skills and enjoy interacting and assisting our farmers and processors. A Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, food science, agriculture or environmental studies preferred.
This is a full-time, non-exempt position.
